“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you, Matthew 7:7.”
American will soon have a new President. While fear and anger prevail, the TRUTH and peace of Jesus Christ is missed.
What follows is my latest mini-sermon (also in pamphlet form) I call, The Seeker’s Guide to Biblical Christianity. I could write a book about Biblical Christianity but why. A book has already been written, and it’s called, The Bible—the Holy Spirit inspired revelation / identity of the Spiritual Creator God manifested in the flesh—Jesus—, for man to see, understand and know about the only true God.
Why a “Seeker’s Guide,” to Biblical Christianity I’ve asked myself. I considered an “Idiot’s Guide” but deemed it inappropriate for the subject matter; many today would consider it idiotic to believe in a God or Supreme Being anyway much less Biblical Christianity.
When I tell people I am a Biblical Christian, most begin to quickly move away because they believe they have encountered a radical, homophobic nut case. I understand their concerns because most are ignorant of the words written in the Bible, a book they have never read. “Christians” in name only, professing but not possessing, have given Christianity a bad name in their distorted views of what it means to be called Christian.
In truth, the Bible—the word of God—provides all the answers if one would only have faith in the existence of God. There is a caveat though. The words of the Bible are not for your own interpretation. They will be interpreted for you when you have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit—God’s comforter, guidance to wisdom and knowledge of all things and His pledge of assurance that you have inherited eternal life.
Today’s world is a complicated place but perhaps not any more or less so than it has been since the beginning of time. Survival in today’s (and yesterday’s world too) not only requires mental and physical strength, but it also required, and requires in today’s world, being a member of a social group one might call a clan, tribe, gang or family. That membership may offer acceptance, security and even love, but there are no guarantees. Everyone seeks acceptance, recognition and love. Not all, however, find what they, from a humanly perspective, need.
I believe that man is a created being that has an inner—part of man’s genetic, DNA structure—need for his Creator. You can either accept or reject that this inner need exists. But whatever you personally believe, when calamity occurs, and it will, all will pray for salvation, deliverance or help. All will make some statement of commitment: “God, if you will only do so and so, I will promise to do so and so.” Anyone who claims they have not uttered this statement are not being truthful. Of course, many never honor their commitment even if it is granted. Many refuse to accept this inner need because once they cried out for deliverance, but no deliverance was provided. If you do not have a relationship and faith in the existence of God, why would God honor your prayer?
If you are seeking to find God—the, I AM That I AM, the Creator God of the Bible, and the one True God—, it is my prayer that you will consider the pathway Jesus taught as the only way to God and eternal life. That pathway is recorded in the Biblical Scriptures, the Holy Bible. Although narrow, His pathway is indisputable and without equal. It is the only way, the Creator’s way, and not man’s way.
No one can come to Jesus unless God is calling him. If God is calling you, you will know it in your heart. If you feel His calling, allow your mind to consider the following steps:
- Step 1: Confess that you are a sinner. You must recognize that you have a need for God because of your sinful nature. Regardless of how good you believe you are, you are outside the will of God’s precepts and commandments because of your human nature. You are crawling in the “gutter of life,” depressed, lonely, perhaps facing personal or family sickness or death and without hope of a better tomorrow or eternal life and your spirit recognizes that you need God. God’s word to man is found in the Bible. His word tells us that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
- Step 2: Realize that “good deeds” will not save you. Because of your separation from God and your sinful human nature, a price for your redemption (to be made clean so that you can enter the presence of God) must be paid. On your own, you cannot earn your way to God by doing good deeds as many religions and doctrines written by man would have you believe. The only way for man to hear, talk and walk with God required that a perfect “sacrifice” be made. Do not try to rationalize the concept of sacrifice for it is written, “My ways are not your ways, and your thoughts are not my thoughts.” God’s way requires a perfect atoning sacrifice. That sacrifice was His Son, Jesus Christ. God’s word tells us that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God…and that the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” Romans 6:23 and Romans 5:8.
- Step 3: Repent of your sinful ways. To repent is to turn from your sinful life as seen by God, change direction and accept Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection. [To accept the resurrection as TRUTH by faith is paramount. For, if Jesus was not raised from death on the third day, all man’s searching is for naught. Without Jesus there is only birth and death and no eternal life.] God’s word tells us “that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.” Romans 10:9.
- Step 4: Ask God to save you. Pray in your own words what you feel in your heart. You should confess your sins to God (name them whether you want to or not), tell God that you are repenting of your sins and will follow Him into the newness of life; ask God for forgiveness, thank God for saving you, and have faith and trust that God has given you eternal life. God’s word tells us that “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,” Romans 10:13.
- Step 5: Through faith, belief and acceptance of the Gospel Message the Holy Spirit of God will indwell you. There is but one God, the Creator God that manifests Himself to man in three personages—God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is Spirit and He is the, I AM that I AM. No one has ever seen God.
God the Son is Jesus Christ who was born of the Virgin Mary. Mary was the surrogate mother who carried and gave birth to the perfect child—the atoning sacrifice for man’s redemption who was without man’s sinful human nature). Jesus is the physical manifestation that allows man to know and see God in physical form.
God the Holy Spirit is God’s spiritual vehicle for indwelling man and imparting a new spiritual nature, if and only if man will relinquish his self-will that will lead him to obtaining eternal life.
All three personages together are called the Trinity, and they together are the Alpha and the Omega. When you have accepted God’s plan for receiving salvation and eternal life, the Holy Spirit of God will come into your life and dwell with you spiritually. You will have to learn to hear His voice and follow His lead. You will only be able to do this if you relinquish your self-will—seeking to lead your life by your own ability—and allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you and impart His wisdom and knowledge in the newness of spiritual life.
The Holly Spirit’s indwelling is God’s promise to you of eternal life. You will become a changed person. God’s Holy Spirit may not be immediately discernible to you, but you must have faith and belief that He is working in your life. You will come to hear His voice by praying to God (I call it twittering with God throughout the day), reading, meditating and memorizing Biblical Scripture passages.
To grow spiritually, you will want to become a member of a local Bible believing congregation. The denomination is unimportant as long as it is a congregation that follows the teaching of Jesus Christ, believes and trusts in His Holy Word, and proclaims Jesus Christ as the only pathway to salvation and heaven.
Any other pathway is not Biblical. There may be other pathways and other gods, but the only pathway to God, heaven and the coming kingdom on earth that the Biblical Scriptures support is through Jesus Christ. If you seek any other way, your way is not supported by Biblical (the Bible) Scriptures. You may go to a heaven of another god that is spoken of in other “religious or doctrinal books” but it is not the heaven of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is the only “self-help” book anyone needs. It contains the Living Truth—there is a Creator God—that man’s soul and spirit seeks. If you would like to know the I AM God, read on.
Are you able to believe there is a Creator God? If not, “Ask, and it will be given you: seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be open to you,” Matthew 7:7 NASB. These words of Jesus, I believe, are for those who have faith to believe. God will find you in the depths of your despair when you have exhausted your human abilities of living in your self-will and are willing to surrender your total being to Him. With your surrender you will be born again in a spiritual rebirth and will become a new person in Christ.
God has always been in my life. At an early age, around five, I was saved from physical death by the hand of God. I have often asked, “Why me, Lord?” The words you are reading come from my spiritual rebirth, and I am compelled to tell the story of Jesus and His Love.” I believe this is what God destined me to do because He created me in my mother’s womb to be His servant. I have often been unfaithful, but He was always faithful, and his mercy has always been gracefully bestowed upon me.
It must be acknowledged, however, that throughout history, since the day of Pentecost, as it relates to Christianity, many Christians have given God a bad name by acts of their human nature rather than by commands of the Holy Spirit. Only a few who call upon the name of the Lord actually find True salvation. Many Christians in days past and in the present have walked or are walking the broad path rather than the narrow path. Biblical Christians are to walk the narrow path (enter through the narrow gate), Matthew 7:13-14.
Biblical Christianity produces good fruit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Why would anyone not want to have these attributes? True Biblical Christians are not hate mongers who seek through violence, hatred, phobias, or any number of labels to kill or harm a non-believer in any physical or mental way.
A Biblical Christian believes the words of God were God Breathed. They were inspired by God, they are inerrant,
Man’s human nature—deeds of the flesh: “immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing and things like these,” Galatians 5:19-21—is clearly defined in the Biblical Scriptures. America’s people have willingly discarded the Ten Commandments of God, and they will pay the consequences of believing in man’s humanistic ways of the flesh.
Do you ever read the review or comment sections in news media or on internet business and blog sites? I occasionally peruse them on matters of interests to me, but not seriously seeking to gain knowledge. You will always find bad reviews or comments by a few when the majority reports are excellent. It is just a fact of life that “man’s mental understandings (a glass of water can be view as half-full vs. half-empty)” follow distribution curves with low extremes (outliers), high extremes and a broad spectrum spread between the two ends.
Religions and faiths all have distributions of followers that follow a distribution curve. Thus, Judaism, Christianity and Islam are not exempt from the extremes. A follower of any religious faith has to be taught the true doctrines of his faith. “But what is truth,” Pilate once asked Jesus.
I have been writing about the Biblical Jesus. But, there is also an Islamic Jesus (Isa Al-Maseeh) spoken of in the Koran. If you are of the Muslim faith, Jesus is considered a prophet of Allah but is not the son of Allah as Allah does not have children. A true Muslim believer has the right to kill you for claiming Jesus is the son of Allah.
Understanding who the real Jesus is will be of importance in the days to come when false messiahs will appear claiming to be the true Jesus. Do you understand or know the difference? Let me try to explain by giving you a brief history.
Let’s begin with the man known as Abraham (Abram before God changed his name) for he is the father of Judaism and Islam. There is no dispute regarding this ancestral heritage of these faiths.
God told Abraham to leave his homeland of Ur, located in Iraq, and travel to a land called Canaan. In “Canaan Land” he and his family would become a great and numerous people. Covenant relationships would be made and God would keep His word, but Abraham and his descendants would not. Today, a portion of that “land grant’ is occupied by Israel; a family conflict that began thousands of years ago still exists.
Abraham was married to Sarah (formerly known as Sarai before God changed her name.) Sarah was barren. To have a child, Sarah allowed Abraham to have a child with her Egyptian maid, Hagar. The child born to this union was named Ishmael. Troubled brewed between Sarah and Hagar because Sarah was still barren and Hagar had a son.
Abraham loved Ishmael and desired for him to be the covenant child because he was the older child. However, God had other plans. He opened Sarah’s womb, and she gave birth to a son who was called Isaac; he would inherit the covenant promise. Through Isaac and Sarah twin sons were born, Esau the older and Jacob the younger. Like Abraham, Isaac loved Esau the older, but God chose Jacob to receive the covenant blessings.
Through the line of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the Hebrew nation was formed (Jacob’s name was changed to Israel) and Jesus is a descendant (on paper) through this lineage. Jesus was miraculously formed in Mary’s womb and is the Man-God. Mary was a surrogate mother, and by Jesus’ shed blood and resurrection, Christianity had its beginning.
Isaac’s brother, Ishmael, and his descendants also became a great people and came to occupy the Arabian Peninsula. You can read the Biblical account of Abraham’s calling and journey in the book of Genesis if you have an interest in learning more.
Continuing our story with the descendant of Ishmael, Muhammad was born in 570 AD and in him the roots of Islam and the worship of Allah had its beginning. Muhammad was “given” the words of the Qur’an and from his life and other literature documenting his life and teachings, Islam was “formed.” Muhammad and Islam’s rejection of the Bible—the book and its people— is based upon their belief that it has been distorted and does not contain the whole truth.
While the Jews await the coming of their Messiah, Christians await the return of Jesus, and Muslims await the return of the Mahdi. When the Mahdi—the final Caliph or Caliphate of Islam—returns, the Islamic Jesus will also appear and will declare what was written about him in the Bible to be a distortion of the truth. All Muslims will be required and obligated to follow the Mahdi. The Mahdi is the Vice-regent (Khalifa) of Allah. The truth about Jesus according to Islamic literature is briefly summarized as follows:
- “Jesus is not God’s son and was not god in the flesh. Allah did not have a son.
- Jesus did not die on a cross for the sins of man. Allah delivered Jesus from death.
- Jesus was merely a prophet. When he returns he will return as a Muslim and follow Shari law.
- Jesus will refer to the Mahdi as greater than he.
- Jesus will remove all crosses, and will kill all Jews, Christians and all who will not follow Allah.
- Jesus will return to earth, marry and have children and then die. He will be buried next to Muhammad. Muhammad was Allah’s messenger and is viewed as the perfect example for all to follow.”
Islam like Christianity has varying doctrines and understandings regarding a supreme being. (ISIS has formed a caliphate and is living out the commandments of Muhammad. To those whose faith is in Biblical Christianity, their ways are barbaric, sadistic, torturous and without mercy. However, the ISIS way is the truth of Islam.) Just as there are peaceful Muslims and Christians, there are also Jihadist / radical “Christians” and a spectrum of believers within each group.
It is my belief that Biblical Christianity is the Truth. There is no radicalism, savagery, brutality to be found in the words of the Biblical Jesus. There is to be found a new spiritual rebirth that changes lives, gives freedom and liberty, and guarantees eternal life. Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Savior and He can be yours if you will accept Him in faith and belief.
These were my thoughts for today. I would be pleased to hear from you.
